SBRI Overview SBRI (Small Business Research Initiative) is a structured process enabling the Public Sector to engage with Innovative Suppliers :- Helping Public Sector fulfil Objectives Using Innovation to achieve step function improvements Accelerating Commercialisation of ideas Provide a route to market Supporting the development of Innovative Companies Provide a lead customer/R&D partner Provide funding & credibility for fund raising SBRI

SBRI Key Features Development Contracts 100% funded R&D (procurement contract) UK implementation of EU pre-commercial procurement Deliverable based for R&D Services Contract with Prime Supplier who may choose to sub contract but remains accountable IP rests with Supplier Certain usage rights with Public Sector Companies are encouraged to exploit IP and will be assessed on this basis. SBRI

  4. Eligibility Open to all organisations. There is no limit on the size or type of company. Open to companies not currently engaged in the sector Research organisations may also apply, however all organisations must demonstrate a route to market SBRI

Competition Overview Phase 2 (Prototype Development & Testing) Phase 1 (Feasibility) Submit your application Type of Competition SBRI Project composition Prime Supplier Up to 500K (inc VAT) (anticipated) Project Size (inc VAT) Up to 50K (inc VAT) Assessment and moderation panel Anticipated Project length Up to 3 months Up to 12 months SBRI

The application submission process Via competition website 1 REGISTER DOWNLOAD documents - Brief, ITT, Guidance..etc 2 COMPLETE documents Take your time, use all space provided 3 Don t leave it to the last minute. Do it early! 4 UPLOAD documents NOTIFICATION received On date provided 5 Within 4 weeks of receiving your notification 6 FEEDBACK received SBRI

Things to Note Applicants must fully complete the application form Any size or type of organisation is eligible As long as a route to market is demonstrated All contract values quoted include VAT Fair Market Value The contract terms and conditions are not negotiable Appropriate Level of Due Diligence SBRI

  9. Application Assessment All applications are assessed by selected reviewers. What do they look for? Clear and concise answers The right amount of information not too much detail no assumptions Quantification and justification That the applicant has the right people with the right bright idea and the means to exploit its potential SBRI

Key Dates Phase 1: Feasibility Studies 16 July 2018 Open Date 16 July 2018 Applicant Briefing Final date for registration Noon 29 August 2018 Deadline for Phase 1 applications Noon 5 September 2018 26 October 2018 Applicants Notified of Decision 23 November 2018 Phase 1 Contracts Awarded 23 November 2018 Feedback Provided By SBRI
