2019-2020 ACADEMIC YEAR AVIATION SPEAKING SKILLS (LNG312) WEEK 5- LOST PLACES
LOST PLACES Have you heard stories about lost places? There is a story about Atlantis. Two thousand years ago, the Greek writer Plato wrote about it. Atlantis was an island in the Atlantic Ocean. The people on the island were very rich, but they were also greedy. This angered the gods. Earthquakes and great waves struck the island. Finally, the island sank into the sea. Explorers have often searched for Atlantis. In 2004, Robert Sarmast searched and he found something under the sea near Cyprus. Was it the remains of the lost city of Atlantis? Sarmast reported that he found the remains of a city. Finally, however, it turned out that the structures were not made by man, they were natural. And then there is the story of Mu. Mu is a lost continent. Some people believe that Mu sank in the Pacific Ocean thousands of years ago. They believe that earthquakes struck Mu, like Atlantis. Professor Masaaki Kimura believes the remains of Mu are near the Yonaguni Islands of Japan. However, there is no solid evidence that Mu existed, or that Atlantis existed. But the research goes on.
