The Data Security and Protection Toolkit what is it and why use it? Practical issues How much do you already know about the DSPT? How much do you already know about keeping your business cyber secure? Have local authorities or CCGs ever asked if you have completed DSPT? How do you feel about the Toolkit? What is the Data Security and Protection Toolkit? An online self assessment of your organisation s data security Demonstrates compliance with data protection legislation Reviewed annually Gives advice and is a checklist of good practice 3
Why do I need to pay attention to this? Data and cyber security is important for safe sharing of records especially with increased use of digital technology during the pandemic It will help you keep people s confidential information safe It will help protect your business from the risk of being fined for a data breach and from the disruption of a cyberattack The DSPT will demonstrate compliance with legal and CQC requirements 4
How will the Toolkit help you? You can use the DSPT as evidence for: CQC Key Lines of Enquiry (KLOEs): C3.3 How are people assured that information about them is treated confidentially in a way that complies with the Data Protection Act, and that staff respect their privacy? Find your ODS codes - what is an ODS code? ODS stands for Organisation Data Service and is part of NHS Digital Your ODS Code is a unique code created by NHS Digital s Organisation Data Service The unique ODS Code is used to identify organisations across health and social care You can search for an ODS code by name, type of business, address or post code All CQC-registered services will have an ODS code If you don t have a code you can ask for one to be set up for you 9
