  16. I DONT TEACH ENGLISH/MATH, SO HOW WILL AB 705 AFFECT ME?

  17. Some questions for all faculty to think about: Where are students in their DVC career when you encounter them in your classes? Where are students in their DVC career when you encounter them in your classes?

  18. Some questions for all faculty to think about: Is a pre-requisite for your class English 122 eligibility Previously, your students might have been a few semesters into their DVC career and already taken some English before taking your class Now, more students who are brand new to the college will be in your class, and they won t have taken a college English course English 122 eligibility? Is a pre-requisite for your class completion of English 122 These students will also be coming to you sooner completion of English 122? What about Math Math pre-reqs?

  19. Some questions for all faculty to think about: What changes will you need to make in your pedagogy to accommodate this shift? Reading assignments Writing assignments Scaffolding Study skills and organization Integration of student services, counseling

  20. THIS IS A MAJOR CHANGE FOR THE WHOLE COLLEGE, NOT JUST ENGLISH AND MATH

  21. We are excited about this! We will be meeting students where they are meeting students where they are, and offering them the tools to get where they want to go This has real potential to increase student success across the board across the board student success

  22. We are telling students: You can do this!

  23. HOW CAN YOU HELP?

  24. We need For the everyone at the college to talk about AB 705 frequently and accurately; Help communicating to our colleagues about the impact this bill will have not only in English and math, but for everyone; Help spreading the word that supporting students in the classroom is a college-wide endeavor; For students to be directed to use MMP for placement whenever possible; we re planning our course offerings with the assumption that MMP is students primary placement tool; For students to be advised to take English 122 or 122 with the co-req; the data shows they can succeed AND we will only have about 13 sections of pre-transfer English; Everyone to be prepared to make significant changes it s not possible for the changes to be contained within just English and math.
