  5. 1. What is going on in Rome? Is it because of meat offered to idols? Is it the Jews and the Sabbath and food rules? Is it because of Gentile ascetics? Is it the Jewish legalists? We don t know

  6. 2. What does weak in the faith mean here? NOT believers in name only NOT uncertain if Jesus is Messiah NOT uncommitted to the Lord NOT without self control These brethren are (at present) without enough revelation and faith to see beyond these earthly things.

  7. 3. What does Paul want the Romans to do? Receive him! Philemon 1:12, 17 Romans 14:3 Romans 15:7 NKJV: not to disputes over doubtful things. ESV: not to quarrel over opinions. NIV: without quarreling over disputable matters. CSB: don t argue about disputed matters. NASB: not for the purpose of passing judgment on his opinions.

God has received them (Romans 14:3) They stand before their own master (Romans 14:4) They do those things unto the Lord(Romans 14:6) And why must we not judge OR despise others in these things? We must all give an account of ourselves to God (Romans 14:12)
