  2. #LeedsMakingHistory First patient in Leeds vaccinated on 8thDecember 2020 A vaccine is the most effective way to protect vulnerable people from Covid-19 Currently 3 approved vaccines: Pfizer/BioNTech Oxford Astra Zeneca Moderna (Available from Spring)

  3. Vaccination sites Hospital Hubs one at St James s Hospital and one at The Mount Local Vaccine Services 18 Primary Care Networks in Leeds, two pharmacy sites Community Vaccination Centre hosted at Elland Road Outreach sites

  4. Who will be offered the vaccine? JCVI advises the order of vaccine delivery, in order to prevent mortality and maintain health and social care systems is as follows: 1. residents in a care home for older adults and their carers 2. all those 80 years of age and over and frontline health and social care workers 3. all those 75 years of age and over 4. all those 70 years of age and over and clinically extremely vulnerable individuals 5. all those 65 years of age and over 6. all individuals aged 16 yearsto 64 years with underlying health conditions which put them at higher risk of serious disease and mortality 7. all those 60 years of age and over 8. all those 55 years of age and over 9. all those 50 years of age and over

  5. Covid-19 and Older People People over 60 are at a greater risk from Covid-19. Age is the single greatest risk factor for experiencing severe illness and death; 80+ were seventy times more likely to die than those under 40. Older people have also been disproportionately affected by the impact of lockdown. Many older people have: Experienced a deterioration in their health Developed unhealthy behaviours Fear that their finances will worsen in the year to come Experienced social isolation

Tackling health inequalities Inequalities increased during the pandemic so a priority for the city and the vaccination programme Age as the single greatest risk factor for experiencing severe illness and death from Covid-19 People in the most deprived communities experienced ill health or death twice as likely as those in the least deprived areas, for both males and females People from black and ethnic minority communities -death rates from COVID-19 were highest among people of Black and Asian ethnic groups People in low-paid or low-skilled occupations -security guards, taxi drivers, chefs, care workers and bus drivers are the occupations with the highest death rates involving coronavirus People with underlying health conditions People with disabilities People with learning disabilities
