  1. We will be looking at: What the word endangered means. The difference between the words endangered and extinct. Why animals can become extinct. What charities support animals. How artwork can help raise awareness of important issues around the world.

  2. Endangered Animals 1. What does the word endangered mean? 2. What does the word extinct mean? 3. What animals can you think of that are endangered today? 4. Why do some animals become endangered? 5. Can you think of any charities around the world or in England that help to protect and look after any animals? 6. How can artwork help these charities/ issues around the world? Task: Write down your answers in a mind map with endangered animals in the middle. Explain the difference between endangered and extinct animals.

  4. Task! Task! Looking at the three Lion portraits you will need to choose one design to recreate for your artwork. Discuss as a class the differences between each one and think about which of the following words below you will need to consider. Symmetry Shape Scale Proportion Detail Mark making Line

  5. Recreate the template in front of you carefully. Do not rush your lines and remember to be resilient when working. Use a rubber to alter your drawing as you go along. Create a Lion Portrait Success Criteria: Identify the shape of the Lions head (Towards) Analyse and locate the features of the face using symmetry, proportion and scale. (Met) Above has been met successfully and you have created a strong clear outline of the Lions face whilst interpreting detail through a range of mark-making techniques. (Depth) Strand 1 = I can draw accurately from an image.
