Bewitched = fascinate; entice by trickery; deceit The evidence of Christ and His gospel was plain Gal. 1:6-10 Did they receive the Spirit via the works of the O.T. or by faith in Christ and His word? They had obeyed ~ do the works of the flesh now perfect their righteousness with God? Was their suffering in vain? Was the Spirit of the Law or faith?
Faith = Hebrews 11:1; 6 Abraham BELIEVED God and it was counted for righteousness Those of FAITH are children of Abraham --- Genesis 12: 2-3; 18:17 18; 22: 15 18; Acts 3:25 Under the Law (Law of Moses i.e., O.T.) Cursed! No justification (made righteous) Habakkuk 2:4; Romans 1: 16 - 17
The LAW is not of faith! Whoever OBEYS THE LAW must also LIVE IN THE LAW. Christ REDEEMED us from (1 Peter 1: 18 21) the CURSE of the law! Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree. (Deuteronomy 21: 22 23) Reason: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the GENTILES through Christ; that WE might receive the PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT THROUGH FAITH!
God made a covenant with Abraham. Covenant = PROMISE God CANNOT LIE! The PROMISE/COVENANT/CONTRACT WAS THIS: Genesis 22: 15 18 In Galatians 3:16, we know this SEED to be Christ Jesus! The LAW (of Moses) did NOT CHANGE THE PROMISE TO ABRAHAM, ISAAC, OR JACOB! Though 430 years coming (from Joseph to Moses) God s promise remained sure! If the PROMISE had come via the LAW, it would not have been a PROMISE: GOD GAVE IT TO ABRAHAM AS A PROMISE!
What value, then, is the Law? It was added because of sin. It would continue UNTIL the SEED would come to whom the PROMISE was made. It was ordained by God s messengers in the hand of a mediator MOSES (Deut. 5:4-6) God was one party the people the other!
MOSES LAW OR GODS PROMISE? If there had been a LAW given which Could have given LIFE, truly RIGHTEOUSNESS would have been by the LAW.
The scripture has concluded ALL under sin: Romans 3:27 Romans 4: 1- 12 Romans 11: 25 36 The purpose of the Old Law: a schoolmaster/teacher/tutor to bring us to Christ that we might be justified by FAITH
Once FAITH came, we no longer needed the schoolmaster. Faith = Hebrews 11:1; 6 Romans 10:17 Ephesians 2: 8 17 We are NOW children of God by FAITH (obedient faith) in Christ. Note the clarity of Galatians 3:27! Baptism is the ONLY way of entrance into Christ! This obedience eliminated Jew vs. Gentile All OBEDIENT souls are in Christ Jesus. If we are Christ s, then we are Abraham s seed, and heirs according to the PROMISE! slave vs. free male vs. female
