Activity 3 1. The incident happened because the mental press machine was unsafe and Freddie short- circuited the machine s safety guards so he could work twice as fast and not have to wait, like his friends, for the guard to close. 2. The machine was unsafe so it should have been replaced or fixed and the machines should have been inspected regularly then it could have been seen that Freddie had short-circuited the mental press machine. Freddie shouldn t have short-circuited the machine. 3. The fellow workers should first warn that worker and then report that worker to the supervisor or management. 4. It is Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHS) (85 of1993). This act makes provision for; Health and safety of people at work Safety of people using equipment and machinery Protection of people against threats to safety by other people Establishment of advisory council for occupational health and safety.
