Frequently Asked Questions
Q: What if I stay an extra semester/year or graduate early? What if I transfer to Cornell or join PATCH late? A: All students will use the Per Semester number to determine Good Standing and the Average Points Per Semester to determine eligibility for Graduation Recognition. A: Students must be in PATCH for both fall and spring semesters to be eligible for an Annual Excellence Award.
Q: What if I plan to study abroad or take a Leave of Absence? A: Students who study abroad or take a leave of absence can be put in a hold status for the academic semester they are away. Which means that semester will not be counted when determining eligibility for Good Standing and Graduation Recognition. They cannot, however, be eligible for the Annual Excellence Award. A written/email request can be submitted to the president, vice president and advisor during the semester before the abroad experience begins. Other forms of leave can be discussed and reviewed individually with the advisor.
Q: How will I get points for my experiences outside PATCH or during breaks (e.g. summer)? A: Students who complete an experience with another organization outside of PATCH or during a break will use the Activity Submission Form to ensure that their points are calculated. All applicable activities must have the student s signature and supervisor/activity coordinator contact information. A: Points gained over the summer and winter break will applied to the following semester. E.g. Summer 2019 to Fall 2019 and Winter Break 2019/2020 to Spring 2020.
Q: What about experiences gained this summer before this point system was established? A: All students who had experiences this past summer (2019) will submit the Activity Submission Form either as a physical copy or online.
Q: Where can I see how many points I ve earned so far? A: There will be a Google Sheet that is updated weekly. The link can be found on the website and will be included in the regular PATCH email.
Q: How will I receive my subcommittee points? A: Each subcommittee will provide the president, vice president, and advisor a report on the standing of their members at the end of each semester.
Again This system will still be in flux as the kinks get ironed out so please be patient. Thank you!
