Understanding Prion Diseases and Their Impact on Cattle
Explore the world of prions and their role in causing diseases like BSE in cattle. Learn about the origin of prions, their effects on the central nervous system, and the systemic signs of these diseases. Discover how prions, as unique pathogenic proteins, present challenges in disease diagnosis and management.

What is the reason of this disease ? t isn t a bacteria t isn t a virus t isn t a parasite What is this damn thing ?
I heard something about Prions
Prion What does it meaning ? This word has made from proteinaceous and infectious. This is a protein. But this protein is pathogen. Doesn t have any DNA or RNA They aren t living, breathing, moving, something etc.
Where are these prions coming from ? Cattles are being fed the remains of other cattle in the form of meat and bone meal. Aren t they herbivores ? This application caused infectious agents to spread.
What does this prion especially do ? t harms central nervous system. So you can see behavioural and neurological signs. One notable sign is an increase in aggression. Cattle will react excessively to noise or touch and will slowly become ataxic
Systemic signs of this disease ? Anorexia, Drop in milk production, Lethargy
Do I get sick immediately ? You can take a breath deep ncubation period is too long between 2-8 year.
