Scenario Importance of School Dropout Rates Linked to heightened criminal activity Costly to society A study by Northeastern University concluded that dropouts cost taxpayers $292,000 over the course of their lives Lack of education leads to fewer employment opportunities Do certain characteristics correlate to high dropout rates? -Gender -Location -Grade -Reason -School Type -Race

Dropouts tend to increase as grade level increases. Hispanics and African Americans have the highest average dropout rate. Charter Schools have a much higher dropout rate

  6. Conclusions We discovered that the average dropout in PA from 16-17 is.. A 12th grade Hispanic male from a charter school that is located in an urban area who dropped out because he disliked his institution Data Highlights Charter Schoolshad a significantly higher dropout rate than public schools (4.08% vs 1.52%) 33.07% of dropouts left school during their senior year Urban countieshad higher dropout rates, with the two highest rates in the areas of Philadelphia + Pittsburgh
