  3. How much do we know?

  4. People with disability are not routinely asked

  5. Data collection is poor

  6. Prevalence: whole population ABS Personal Safety Survey 2016 and AIHW: Sexual assault in Australia, August 2020.

  7. Prevalence: all people with disability, each year 15% of people with disability are estimated to experience sexual assault since age 15. Annual assaults = 72,000 Annual assaults = 72,000 Source: ABS Personal Safety Survey 2016

  9. Prevalence children with disability, each year

  10. 21,000 people assaulted since age 15. Disability 26% 1040 people assaulted in previous 12 months. Extrapolated from ABS Personal Safety Survey 2016

  11. 140 people per provider have been assaulted in their lifetime 150 NDIS providers Approximately 7 people assaulted in previous 12 months Extrapolated from ABS Personal Safety Survey 2016

  12. Abuse of people with disability is frequent Nationally Nationally: 8 adults/hour Tasmania Tasmania: 1 adult/8 hours Nationally Nationally: 1 child/hour
