  4. WHATS WRONG WITH WHAT S WRONG WITH SOCIAL DRINKING? SOCIAL DRINKING? It is an introduction to Heavy Drinking- 1 out of 10 who begin to drink becomes a problem drinker Luke 6:31 as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise Romans 12:1,2 that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service.2 And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind

  5. WHATS WRONG WITH WHAT S WRONG WITH SOCIAL DRINKING? SOCIAL DRINKING? Light Drinking Provides The Environment for Extreme Drunkenness 1 Thessalonians 5:21,22 Abstain from every form of evil. Romans 13:10 Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law. Matthew 18:7 For offenses must come, but woe to that man by whom the offense comes!

  6. WHATS WRONG WITH WHAT S WRONG WITH SOCIAL DRINKING? SOCIAL DRINKING? Moderate Drinkers Are The Major Influence In Attracting New Drinkers Nobody persuaded to drink by watching a gutter-drunk in T.V. commercials Galatians 6:7,8 whatever a man sows, that he will also reap Proverbs 23:29-35 it bites like a serpent, And stings like a viper see strange things, your heart will utter perverse things

  7. WHATS WRONG WITH WHAT S WRONG WITH SOCIAL DRINKING? SOCIAL DRINKING? The Bible Expressly Forbids It- 1 Peter 4:3,4 drunkenness habitual intoxication revelries a descent/digression in strength from excess of wine , but clearly a level of drinking distinguishable from excess of wine "Excess of wine" would denote one who staggers, stumbles, sleeps in his stupor; but "revellings" would denote merrymaking (shouting, singing, dancing), generally the stirring of wanton desires with merry companions.

  8. WHATS WRONG WITH WHAT S WRONG WITH SOCIAL DRINKING? SOCIAL DRINKING? "banquetings" (KJV), "carousings" (ASV), "drinking parties (NKJV) - not drunken parties ( revellings ). This suggest drinking without reference to the amount "not of necessity excessive"; further states that its relation with the other words of excess is in the fact that it gives "opportunity for excess

  9. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING You fanatical preachers don t know the difference between excessive drunkenness and simply drinking! The Bible DOES recognize the difference in 1 Peter 4:3 between debauchery, revellings and drinking parties (not necessarily intoxicating) ALL are condemned as the OLD LIFE OF SIN- Romans 13:13,14

  10. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Paul told Timothy to drink a little wine for his stomach s sake! 1 Timothy 5:23 Timothy was suffering from a stomach ailment Paul suggests the water is the culprit Ephesus was decaying city with sewage problems that poisoned underground water Alcohol would prevent dysentery with a little wine

  11. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Modern Imbibers: 1. Rarely drink just a little 2. Do not dilute their wine with water as in ancient times 3. Drink distilled fortified wines, not the ancient wines, not nearly as potent IF this proves anything it proves: Since we can take DRUGS for SICKNESS, we can take them SOCIALLY!

  12. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Jesus turned water into wine! John Chapter 2 New Testament word translated wine meant grape juice ; context determined whether it was intoxicating or not If Jesus provided intoxicating drink, He would have provided for revelry or debauchery! Do you believe it?

  13. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Grape Juice Called Wine- Proverbs 3:10 your vats will overflow with new wine. Numbers 18:12 All the best of the new wine and the grain, their firstfruits which they offer to the LORD, I have given them to you. Numbers 18:13 "first ripe", suggests it had not been set up for some time to go through a process of fermentation Evidence Clear Among Ancients- Plato (4th 5thCent.); Columella (4-70 A.D.); Pliny (24-70 A.D.); Aristotle (384 322 B.C.); Horace (65-27 B.C.); Homer (8thor 9thCent. B.C.); Plutarch (46-119 A.D.)

  14. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Facts show that the ancients not only preserved their wines unfermented, but regarded it as of higher flavor and finer quality than fermented wine. (Moses Stuart, philologist) Thus was Jesus produced was good wine. NOT fermented!

  15. ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO ANSWERING ARGUMENTS TO JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING JUSTIFY SOCIAL DRINKING Alcoholism is a disease - some people get it, others don t! Those who do not imbibe do not get it! It is more useful to view problem drinking as the result of the interaction between the individual's personality and the social context in which he or she has learned how to drink. IF you never LEARN TO DRINK you won t be a PROBLEM DRINKER!

  16. LET US BE HOLY AS OUR LET US BE HOLY AS OUR GOD IS HOLY GOD IS HOLY 1 Peter 1:14,15 as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct. 2 Corinthians 8:21 providing honorable things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men. Romans 12:17 Have regard for good things in the sight of all men. Philippians 4:8 if there is anything praiseworthy-- meditate on these things. 1 Peter 2:12 having your conduct honorable among the Gentiles

  17. OUR CONDUCT MUST BE SUCH OUR CONDUCT MUST BE SUCH THAT THERE IS NO EVIL THAT THAT THERE IS NO EVIL THAT CAN BE SAID OF IT CAN BE SAID OF IT Titus 2:6-8 NKJV 6 Likewise exhort the young men to be sober-minded, 7 in all things showing yourself to be a pattern of good works; in doctrine showing integrity, reverence, incorruptibility, 8 sound speech that cannot be condemned, that one who is an opponent may be ashamed, having nothing evil to say of you.
