DEFINITION OF HOME VISIT Home visit means visiting the family at their places to :1-assess the health needs , 2-provide services such as preventive, primitive, curative or rehabilitative services at their door step by the community health nurse or health workers.
PURPOSE OF HOME VISIT 1-To give care to the sick, to the postpartum and her newborn with he view teach a responsible family member to give the subsequent care. 2-To assess the living condition of the patient and his family and their health practices in order to provide appropriate health teaching.
CONTINUE 3-To give health teaching regarding the prevention and control of diseases to establish close relationship between the health agencies and the public for the promotion of health. 4-To make use of the inter-referral system and to promote the utilization of community services.
PRINCIPLES OF HOME VISIT 1-Have purpose or objectives. 2-Use of available information about the patient and his family 3-Priority. 4- Involve the individual and family. 5- Flexibility. Family records
ADVANTAGES OF HOME VISIT 1- Individualized care. 2-Receive care at home. 3-Observe environmental factors impinging on health. Housing condition finances 4 Understanding lifestyle
CONTINUE 5-Family member participation. 6-Individuals and family members are more receptive to learning. 7-Reduce overall costs .Hospitalization. 8-Family focus is facilitated.
DISADVANTAGES OF HOME VISIT 1-Time consuming .travel time is costly. 2-Less efficient for the nurse. (working with groups or seeing many clients in an ambulatory site is more efficient for the nurse). 3-Distraction and difficult to control. television Noisy children

CONTINUE 1-Initiation phase: *clarify source of referral for visit. *clarify purpose for visit. 2-Pre- visit phase: *Initiate contact with family. *Establish shared perception of purpose with family.
CONTINUE *Determine family's willingness for home visit. *Schedule's for the home visits. *Review referral and family records. 3-In- home phase: *Introduce self and professional identity. *Social interaction to establish rapport.
CONTINUE *Establish nurse- client relationship. *Implement nursing process. 4-Termination phase: *Review visit with family. *Plan for future visit
CONTINUE 5-Post visit phase: *Record visit. *Plan for next visit.
