If the student believes a transfer course should count toward a degree, the Academic Advisor will: 1. Upload the syllabus in Navigate. 2. Inform the student there is no guarantee of course approval and document the conversation in Navigate. 3. Email the Learning Support Coordinator about the availability of the scanned document in Navigate and the request by the student. The LS Coordinator will: 1. Consult with the Undergraduate Programs and the Office of the Registrar to determine the feasibility of the course and document the decision to approve or disapprove. 2. Communicate the approval or disapproval of the course(s) to the referring advisor. The referring advisor informs the student of the outcome and documents the conversation in Navigate.

THE 30 THE 30- -HOUR RULE HOUR RULE ( (USG USG- -MANDATE MANDATE) ) During each semester of enrollment, students must first register for all required corequisite Learning Support courses and paired collegiate courses before being allowed to register for other courses. This policy also applies to part- time students. Students who have accumulated 30 semester hours of college-level credit and have not successfully completed required Learning Support courses may enroll only in corequisite Learning Support courses and paired collegiate courses until all Area A requirements are successfully completed.
REMEMBER: REMEMBER: Students should be encouraged to complete Area A of the General Education Core within their first academic year at KSU. During each semester of enrollment, students (full-time and part-time) must register for required corequisite Learning Support courses and paired collegiate courses. Students requiring Learning Support in English and mathematics may defer enrollment in corequisite Learning Support and the accompanying collegiate courses in one area; however, the student must be continuously enrolled in one or both until the college- level courses are completed and passed. Students who accumulate 30 institutional GPA hours without completing corequisite Learning Support courses will be restricted to only the LS requirements. The LS waiver Special Case Form is used in the event co- requisite LS courses and the paired collegiate courses are not available or on a case-by-case basis due to hardship. There is no guarantee that an LS waiver will be granted to the student. Document the purpose of the LS waiver in Navigate. Take the opportunity to discuss LS rules at NSO and individual advising sessions. Vet students records for any updates. Promote Accuplacer or ALEKS placement tests. Report LS issues or concerns to the Learning Support Coordinator.

STUDENT SCENARIO STUDENT SCENARIO JaShun JaShun arrives on the last day of registration. He has LS corequisite requirements for English and Math. The academic advisor contemplates an LS waiver. The student pathway is Psychology, and there are no available seats in Math 0997/1001 or ENGL 0999/1101. Should the advisor submit the waiver? Why or why not? Tyler Tyler has a 3.2 HSGPA. His pathway is Computer Science. English and math RHSC/CPC are pending. How do you troubleshoot this issue? What English and math courses is Tyler eligible for? How do you advise Tyler concerning his placement? Cheyenne Cheyenne has a 2.3 HSGPA. She took the Accuplacer Placement tests, and her placement remains LS. Her pathway is Finance. Would you advise Cheyenne to take MATH 0997/1001 or STAT 0996/1401? Cheyenne passed MATH 1401 with a grade of D. Does the student need to repeat STAT 0996/1401? Why or why not? How would you advise Cheyenne for the next term?
