Importance of new research We all need medicine sometimes to make us feel better Some people need medicine everyday to stop them getting very sick

Importance of new research Ria (left, with her sister) Chlo Both girls have type 1 diabetes This means their bodies do not produce a special hormone called insulin that turns food into the energy their bodies need
Importance of new research Different on the inside: When a body does not make enough insulin, the sugar from food stays in the blood and does not go to the cells that need it to make energy Insulin can be given by a small injection To check to see if a body needs insulin or sugar, a small amount of blood is dropped onto a blood glucose meter
Importance of new research Chloe and Ria have to test their blood and need special injections everyday just to stop them getting sick.
