INTRODUCTION The sins of some are easily seen and we know they are wicked Sins of others can be more subtle and not so easily recognized Christians are to be separate and apart from the wicked 2 Corinthians 6:17-18; Ephesians 5:11 We can rely on the scriptures to teach us concerning the ways of the wicked Avoiding the pits falls of wickedness our self - 2 Peter 3:17-18 And clearly identifying wickedness in others and warning them Ezekiel 33:7-9; 1 Thessalonians 5:14 2

FORSAKE GODS LAW - PSALMS 119:53 The Wicked The wicked transgress God s law - 1 John 3:4 the whole world lieth in wickedness - 1 John 5:19 It is not necessary to forsake all the law to be wicked Simon - Acts 8:13-24 The wicked must forsake his evil way and return to God who is gracious to forgive Isaiah 55:7 3

ARE FILLED WITH PRIDE - PSALMS 10:4 The Wicked Pride is an inflated estimate of one s own accomplishments Pride hardens the heart & prevents one from seeking God God hates pride - Proverbs 6:16-17; 8:13 Pride brings destruction to its owner It goes before destruction and a fall - Proverbs 16:18 It caused King Nebuchadnezzar to fall - Daniel 4:29-37 Those who exalt themselves will be humbled - Matthew 23:12 The humble hearted seek and obey God - 1 Peter 5:5-7 4

  5. ARE PERVERSE - PROVERBS 2:14 The Wicked Perversity is a turning from what is right or straight Perversity is usually intentional The wicked speak perverse things - Proverbs 10:32 Perversity is an abomination to God - Proverbs 3:32 Galatians 1:6-9 - another gospel: Which is not another 5

GIVES HEED TO FALSE LIPS - PROVERBS 17:4 The Wicked The wicked heed wicked advice and counsel and have no desire to please God They walk in the counsel of the ungodly - Psalms 1:1-3 They refuse to receive instruction from the Godly Matthew 13:13-15; Hebrews 5:11-12 They condemn the righteous and justify the wicked and both are an abomination to God Proverbs 17:15 6

GIVE DECEITFUL COUNSEL - PROVERBS 12:5; 15:28 The Wicked The wicked advises others to practice evil Proverbs 14:14-16; 24-27 The wicked pervert and deny God s counsel as did Satan with Eve Genesis 3:1-4 Even though the lips of the righteous know what is acceptable - the wicked will not heed wise counsel Proverbs 10:32 7

ARE LIKE A TROUBLED SEA - ISAIAH 57:20 The Wicked The wicked live a life of trouble, turmoil and chaos They are troubled and restless in heart - they have no peace Isaiah 57:21 As a stormy sea is full of dirt and mire, the wicked continue in their wicked deeds and urge others to follow them Proverbs 1:10-16 The wicked will reap what they sow - Galatians 6:7-8 They sow to the flesh and reap corruption 8

REAP WAGES THAT LEAD TO SIN - PROVERBS 10:16 The Wicked The writer contrasts the fruit of the righteous and the wicked Romans 6:23 We are known by our fruits- Matthew 7:15-20; John 15:1-6 Those who DO NOT bring forth the fruit of the Spirit are wicked in God s sight - Galatians 5:22-23 God will tell the wicked I never knew you: depart from me Matthew 7:21-23 9

  11. The Way of The Wicked Do you follow one or more ways of the wicked? If you do What does that make you? What are you going to do about it? For the LORD knoweth the way of the righteous: but the way of the ungodly shall perish (Psalms 1:6) CONCLUSION 11
