  6. METAMORPHOSIS

  7. METAMORPHOSIS The Greek word for transformation is at the root of our word metamorphosis The word we might use to describe a caterpillar s progression into a butterfly. Think of the key points we just considered in scripture that describe the spiritual transformation in the life of the Christian

  8. 1. OUR TRANSFORMATION Our transformation(sanctification) begins at the time of our conversion) 1 Corinthians 1:30, 1 Corinthians 6:11, Ezekiel 36:26- 27

  9. 1 CORINTHIANS 1:30 30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

  10. 1 CORINTHIANS 6:11 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the Spirit of our God.

  11. EZEKIEL 36:26-27 26A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27And I will put my spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.

  12. 2- IT IS PROGRESSIVE (It is progressive; will not be like Christ totally until we are with Him in glory) 1 John 3:2, 1 Cor 13:12, Psalm 84:7, 2 Cor 3:18

  13. 1 JOHN 3:2 2 Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

  14. 1 COR 13:12 12 For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.

  15. PSALM 84:7 7 They go from strength to strength, every one of them in Zion appeareth before God.

  16. 2 COR 3:18 18 But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.

  17. 3-GODS HOLY SPIRIT WHO CHANGES US 3. (It is God s Holy Spirit Who changes us to be like Christ) 1 Thessalonians 5:23-24, Philippians 1:6, 2:13, Hebrews 13:21, 2 Thessalonians 2:13, 1 Peter 1:2

  18. PHILIPPIANS 1:6 6Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:

  19. PHILIPPIANS 2:13 13 For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

  20. 4. (WE ARE TOTALLY DEPENDENT ON THE HOLY SPIRIT AND AT THE SAME TIME WE ARE RESPONSIBLE TO COOPERATE WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT) Philippians 4:13, 1 Corinthians 3:10; 15:10, Colossians 1:29, Psalm 127:1, 1 Cor 3:7

  21. PHILIPPIANS 4:13 13 I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.

  22. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:10 10 According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise master builder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon. But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.

  23. 1 CORINTHIANS 15:10 10But by the grace of God I am what I am: and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain; but I labored more abundantly than they all: yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.

  24. COLOSSIANS 1:29 29Whereunto I also labor, striving according to his working, which worketh in me mightily.

  25. PSALM 127:1 Except the LORD build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the LORD keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.

  26. 1 CORINTHIANS 3:7 7So then neither is he that planteth anything, neither he that watereth; but God that giveth the increase.

  27. CLOSING & PRAYER GOAL OF TRANSFORMATION IS TO BE CONFORMED TO THE LIKENESS OF CHRIST
