  3. STRENGTHENING THE MEMORY It is an ancient method used by the rhapsodists , poets who memorized and chorused long poems with thousands of lyrics. Through this orally spread tradition, people codified these memorization techniques, which led the new generations decode them so as to be used for their own needs, such as the cultivation and strengthening of memory. This method is based on a simple repeated pattern or key-words.

  5. Mantinada is words combined in order to create a couplet with fifteen syllables and rhyming expressing feelings, thoughts or even the everyday life of the Cretans. The Cretan mantinada is a 15-syllable rhyming couplet in Cretan dialect. Each mantinada is complete in itself in spite of its short length, like a limerick. Mantinada Mantinada A Cretan does not say in plain words what he feels, With mantinades he weeps, with mantinades he laughs! Mantinades can be heard in friends conversations, feasts (by reciting) and with its favoutite friend, lyre. Mantinada and the lyre are combined in a magical way giving happiness and comfort to the Cretans (and not only them). While mantinada spreads its message, lyre accompanies it in harmony https://www.tiktok.com/@vogiatzakis_giwrgos/video/7117194308201057542?_r=1&_t=8VJrNnfaZSY&is_from_webapp=v1&item_id= 7117194308201057542 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wKCQ_qfd3hU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZcBXiQC4dE

  6. antinades first appeared in Crete in the 15th century, during the period of Venetian rule. Cretans were influenced by Venetian poets and European poetry and started using rhyme for the first time. The famous poem Erotokritos seems to have played a decisive part in the invention and development of the mantinada. The origin of mantinades How could it not? 7. The mandinada appears as an essential component of collective life, which, in order to function, requires the active and creative participation of its members. The social model that the use of the mandinada presupposes is therefore a participatory model, of a society that reserves for its members a creative role; not the passive role https://www.tiktok.com/@cretangirl86reth/video/71002008123070743 10?_r=1&_t=8VJp6llxkXN&is_from_webapp=v1&item_id=710020081 2307074310
