  9. Use of Administrative Data Sources for Population Censuses !? _________________________________________________________________________________________________ Leveraging administrative data for census purposes offers an opportunity to improve data quality, reduce operational costs, and produce more timely data. A direct shift from a traditional to a fully register-based census is not feasible. Shifting from traditional census methods to a register-based system typically spans several decades, requiring a long-term, strategic approach. There is no one-size-fits-all method or set timeline for this transition. Each country should proceed based on a thorough initial assessment of available administrative registers and evaluate the necessary preconditions before making methodological changes.

  10. Way forward / Priorities for the Pacific _________________________________________________________________________________________________ - More data analysis / in-depth analysis for censuses completed in the last five years (10 censuses) - Innovative approaches to data collection for upcoming censuses (6 censuses) - Capacity building in data quality control, analysis, dissemination, and use in the formulation/update of national, regional, and global development frameworks. - Strengthen cooperation/joining efforts between agencies (UNFPA, SPC, UNICEF, other UN agencies, USP ), technical support, joint funding proposals - Financial support.
