  1. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 1

  2. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Key Concerns Today Accelerator: beamline layout, build a 350kV gun, setting requirements, facilitating Facilities: demo Cave1, build Cave2, utilities, pit Engineering: Cryo, beamline mech design, RF Physics: HDIce requirements, including cryo Safety: Radiation shielding Common to many: sharing the LHe resource It s been tough getting the train moving: UITFBL (it s a real project!), FY15 allocation 839.6k$ Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 2

  3. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Accelerator Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Must finish optics design, finish the mechanical design, complete the parts list, specify racks and what goes in them HDIce requirements, Set the position of HDIce target, where does pit go? down select the MeV beamline design (chicane or straight, which chicane horizontal or vertical?). Make a 350kV gun!! Staffing CIS + K. Jordan + H. Areti + E. Akers + A. Bogacz Fanning/Feeding, juggling CIS commitments, working to do a better job facilitating work from other groups, e.g., cryo, RF, facilities. Making sure we get it right for HDIce Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 3

  4. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Facilities Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 partial demolition of Cave 1, design and construction of Cave 2, utilities (electric, HVAC, fire suppression, LCW) Recent focus: design phase Staffing FTEs: Renzo, Yasky, Sprouse, and Chandra, in house vs contracted labor? When needed: now Issues/Concerns that could affect delivery: Rebecca has provided a draft schedule, I need a cost estimate, UIM$? This would stretch UITFBL Capital$ Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 4

  5. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Engineering Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Cryo: restore LHe to Cave (1/4 CM + HDIce) Mechanical Design RF: order control modules, 3 klystrons + power supply, chopper amps Staffing Kelly Dixon + others, Joe Gubeli, Rick Nelson, Curt Hovator + others When needed: now Issues/Concerns that could affect on time delivery: set scope of cryo work, cost it, start it; identify klystrons (x3) and power supply; begin populating racks above Cave1 Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 5

  6. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Physics Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Finalize position of HDIce inside Cave2 (effects height of cave, chicane, pit, length of cryo transfer line, etc.,) Staffing Team HDIce When needed: now Issues/Concerns that could affect on time delivery: cost/benefit LHe transfer line vs periodically filled dewars, appreciating the complexity of the target (chicane or no chicane, pit or no pit, height of cave, transfer line or dewars, heat load in room, etc., ) Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 6

  7. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Safety Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Radiation Shielding Staffing Vashek Vylet His estimates are sufficient enough, for now Issues/Concerns that could affect on time delivery: finalize labyrinth design, the present design appears fine for HDIce beam current Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 7

  8. Upgrade Injector Test Facility - UITF Deliverables/Milestones: Polarized e-beam to HDIce Target: February 2016 Issues/Concerns Common to Many: Sharing the Building 58 LHe resource: Users include: VTA, C50, LCLSII, Test Cave 1/4CM, HDIce, Hall B magnets? Can t operate ALL at same time, must schedule tasks Power Outage related to cutting a pit 839.6k$ for FY15 (< 100k$ spent so far): Difficult to manage money without knowing cost of expensive items and tasks: Facilities, Cryo and RF Division Resource Planning and Coordinating 8
