Harper Data Resources & Utilization Collected utilization data for testing (moved to Testing Center), population growth, prospective students, cost of interpreting, managing note-taking and scribes/readers, greater use of assistive technology and growth of alt format Produced mini-reports from Program Reviews quick summary, one page Worked closely with Dept of Rehabilitation Services supported Deaf/HH Gathered student data on retention, persistence, GPA, credits attempted vs. earned; worked closely with Institutional Research
Using Data to Write Proposals/ Tell the Story Developed Fact Sheets about departmental and population-based needs Volunteered to work with Foundation shared departmental needs and aspirations Wrote short proposals for prospective funders individuals, families and business leaders. Captured grant funds where applicate to students with disabilities Collaborated closely with IT, to provide various supports
Success of ADS at Harper College Maintained funding for services to Deaf/HH for 35 years increased grant and matching funds Developed fee based supports for students with LD and AHDH and changed the program focus: tutorial to learning strategies/coaching Secured community donors and business donors to funds multiple scholarships, an Assistive Tech Lab, a learning lab for Deaf/HH Grew office staff and space: serving 100 in 1980 to 1,200 in 2010
