  2. What is it? How can it be useful in your educational research project? Multimodal Tracker is a simple Android app that gathers multiple streams of data about what is happening physically in a space (e.g., in a classroom) using the sensors that come with most phones or tablets. Concretely, it gathers accelerometer, GPS and Bluetooth beacon data (enabling rough indoor positioning), and stores it locally in the phone (you can then export the file for later analysis). Pros: Very simple (only has one button!), Suitable both for outdoors and indoors activities Cons: Only available for Android, Data files have to be copied manually from each phone/tablet, Analyzing and making sense of the data requires some specialized knowledge

  3. What data do you get? Data you get: 1. GPS (Longitude, Latitude, Accuracy, Timestamp) 2. Accelerometer (X, Y, Z, Timestamp) 3. Bluetooth (BLE) iBeacons (Proximity, RSSI, Accuracy, Timestamp)

  4. Use case demo: Gathering data from Multimodal Tracker app Multimodal tracker demo In this video, I explain very briefly how to use the Multimodal Tracker app. Multimodal Tracker is a simple Android app which gathers multiple streams of data about what is happening physically in a space (e.g., a classroom). Concretely, it gathers accelerometer, GPS and Bluetooth beacon data, and stores it locally in the phone (you can export the file for later analysis).

  5. I want to use it! how do I get it? Multimodal Tracker was developed by Luis, Tallinn University, Tallinn and it is free to access and use. The source code and instructions to build are available at: https://github.com/lprisan/multimodal-tracker How do you access the data generated by this tool? App creates one file in your device, which you can access using the normal file manager of the device. For further details, pleas contact: Luis P.
