Abstract Protecting minority rights is the main target to prevent cultural conflict. As a muslim ethnic group spread across China, Uyghurs are faced challenges in the Xianjiang region domestically and internationally regarding human right violation and diplomacy. The issue of Uyghur muslim is interested to be examined as critical understanding and reveal the ideology and worldview in the news report text. The significance of this study is to clarify cultural conflict s interpretation in multicultural society as an issue in political culture urged to concern. One creates tolerance in multicultural society due to otherness which should be accepted and respected, and so does in intertextuality. The research questions of this study formulate intertextuality s selection of Uyghurs cultural conflict and its prevention challenge by interpreting each text found in news reports. The research method used is qualitative descriptive approach using Titscher et. al with the steps of intertextuality procedure in classification, namely intertextual references, attributes, degree of markedness, and the possible cultural icons. The result illustrates that there are various references employed in each text of data source taken from news reports. The patterns of references in news report convinced readers that constructivism conflict occurred between majority tribe of Han and the minority tribe of Uyghur. Therefore, several countries stated their support for Uyghurs by imposing targeted sanctions to Xinjiang officials under their human rights sanctions regimes and taking principled stand to universality of the U.N human rights system. Introduction Respecting cultural rights is an important aspect of any domestic action plan. Limited support from Asian and Arab countries for Uyghurs is a challenge because of limited policies to support Uyghurs. Several researchers are also exploits intertextuality to figure out how statements uses those words, how statements position themselves in respect to other words, such as the use of several mass media convey cultural conflict occurs between Uyghurs and Tiongkok. Intertextuality examined words and phrases intertwined from previous text to figure out the meaning of the text deeply intertextuality to analyze news as the writer focuses on. Examining mass media is important to investigate whether the communication is effective through the use of language. Therefore, CDA views language power utilized in mass media influences readers by its language manifested inscribed. Proponents of mass media analysis combining linguistics, social cognition, and social context criticize power relation, social equality, and ideology. The issue of Uyghur muslim is interested to be examined from news perspective as the huge spotlight phenomena rose by mass media using theory of Critical Discourse Analysis. This study reveal political injustice impinged to Uyghurs through mass media of BBC and aljazeera.
Method Qualitative-descriptive method is used to analyze and to decipher data of words and sentences found in the source of mass media (Creswell, 2018). The source taken is BBC and AlJazeera. The strategy of analysis uses Titscher et. al with the steps of intertextuality procedure in classification, namely intertextual references, attributes, degree of markedness, and the possible cultural icons. The technique used to analyze intertextuality is Critical Discourse Analysis as its theoretical basis. The detailed understanding of cultural conflict phenomenon occurred and the data will be described and be interpreted to obtain meanings of findings. The researcher focuses on cultural conflict experienced by Uyghurs minority from mass media in internet and in website.
