Vaala Municipality and Vaala Upper Secondary School
Vaala Vaala is situated by Lake Ouluj rvi. Ouluj rvi is the fourth largest lake in Finnland. There are almost 3000 inhabitants in Vaala. The population doubles in the summer, because there are over 1800 summer cottages.
The community centre of Vaala is located by Lake Oulujrvi at the starting point of the River Oulujoki
Vaala Upper Secondary School Our school is a part of the entire Vaala school centre. In 2012 the new school centre was built next to the old one. Vaala Upper Secondary School was founded in 1961. We have about 50 students and 14 teachers. To graduate from upper secondary school takes usually three years.
We have free laptops and books for all students. We don't have to pay from the school trip. Every classroom has a smartboard. Our school is a Geopark School; we co-operate with Rokua Geopark.
Our school is active in international projects; e.g. in EPAS-project. We have visited the European Parliament several times.
Our most important and interesting project is Erasmus+.
