Agenda Item II. Approval of June 9 minutes The May meeting minutes were approved following a motion from Shannon Roberts that was seconded by Nick Herber. Myofascial Release treatment: Katie Allen provides massage and other treatment for trauma to improve breathing, sleep, and healing, and to bring balance back into the body. Committee Reports Appeals: None; Policies and Procedures: Burial eligibility: Bruce Maas moved to allow burial benefits to all qualifying veterans regardless of discharge status. The motion was seconded by Nick Herber and carried.Review of Policies and Procedures and Bylaws: Members are encouraged to review existing documents for comprehensive review in August. April 2022, Contractor & Fund Reports: The fund assisted 37 Veteran households. The Veterans Assistance Center received 263 veteran visits. The Free Clinic served 3 veterans. The Fund balance at the end of April was $923,780. The SWACH contract has not expended any funds for referrals. Contract expires in July. Recommended to continue contract at lesser amount of $15,000. Additional discussion to occur at next meeting. Veterans Assistance Center (VAC) Update In-person Stand Down scheduled for September 9, 9am-3pm, at River City Church. Donations are needed to cover increased costs. Department of Defense supplies are being received. May receive up to $3,500 grant from DoD. Department of Labor may grant up to $7,000. Donation to meet $2,000 match has been received. Frank s BBQ providing the meal 2022 Raffle in process. Tickets available at the office and at Heroes Night. Drawing at Paddle for Life CMAC Hero Night will collect non-perishable foods for CCVAC. Heroes Night is June 11 at Hudson s Bay High School July 3 military appreciation night at Ridgefield Raptors The Center and its Veterans Lounge are fully open again Search for new location ongoing. Building needs at least 12 private offices, a conference room, a kitchen, and to be on a bus line, preferably downtown Old Business: Food voucher increased $100 New Business WDVA Serving Those Who Served conference in Wenatchee, August 25-26 for veteran resources Lynn Vaughn proposing to create veteran housing at Camp Bonneville Mayor visiting VAC on June 29 Open Forum KWVA dedicating new memorial for Korean War Vets on June 25, 11-1pm at the helicopter Changes to access at Fort Vancouver barracks package service. Access now off 5th. Camas Post 4278 made $2,000 at poppy drive. John Kaiser, Gulf War veteran, named Camas citizen of the year. 7/14/2022 Veterans Advisory Board 3
