CHALLENGES OF COMMUNICATING RESEARCH FINDINGS WHY THIS PRESENTATTION WHAT THE STATS SAYS WAY FORWARD IN OPTIMIZING THE POTENTIALS OF DIGITAL TECH MANAGING DIGITAL TECH BENEFITS OF USING DIGITAL TECH POTENTAIL BEYOND RESAERCH FINDING

  4. Digital technologies are electronic tools, systems, devices, and resources that generate, store or process data. Research findings are facts and phrases, observations, and experimental data resulting from research DIGITAL TECHNOLOGIES AND A sustainable ecosystem is a biological environment and series of habitats that can thrive and support itself without outside influence or assistance. SUSTAINABLE ECOSYSTEM

  5. The internet and associated ICT have created digital networks through which flow large amounts of information. THE MIX Developments with respect to sustainable ecosystem has been the topic of importance in the recent years as industrialization had affected the environment and society in an appreciable way. Sustainable ecosystems have direct implications on environment, safety, economic, and society of a country (Mangili and Prata 2020).

  6. WHY THIS PRESENTATION

  7. Researchers, managers, policy makers, and faculty are often confronted with how to communicate research findings (goal setting) or the predictive power of various measures (e.g., tests, interviews). WHY THIS PRESENATION CONT D Even in a connected world, it takes time, effort, and willpower to get major transformative effect from new and emerging technologies

  8. Technologies such as artificial intelligence, cloud computing, and the Internet of Things (IoT) are at the forefront of the push for digitalization. WHY THIS PRESENTATION CONT D The potential of harnessing positive impact of digital technology need to be embraced, and this form the foundation for this presentation

  9. 60% of executives say the Internet of Things will play a critical role in their digital business strategy (IDC, 2018) WHAT THE STATS SAYS The most successful organizations that dealt with the pandemic reported a variety of technology-related capabilities. 75% said they had the ability to fill tech jobs during the crisis, 67% said they were more advanced in using technology than their peers before the crisis, and 56% said they were the first movers in experimenting with digital technologies during the crisis (McKinsey, 2020). https://financesonline.com/digital- transformation-statistics/

  10. TOP TECH ALREADY IMPLEMENTE D @2018

  11. Most Researchers lack Relevant experience to effectively communicate research findings using digital tech. The sense of urgency of the time Today s emerging technologies demand different mindset and skillset CHALLENGES OF COMMUNICATING RESEARCH USING DIGITAL-TECH

  12. 4) Innovation Fatigue, Slow Technology Adoption, and Legacy Technology CHALLENGES CONT D 5) Culture of acceptance of digital technology 6) Inertia and Complacency are deadly in the world we live in today People think that they have seen it all but we are just at the beginning of the next generation of computing.

  13. WHY MANAGE DIGITAL TECH 76.6% of businesses say their relationship with technology and digital transformation is generally average or above average (Futurum, 2018). IT, customer care, and marketing departments have been excelling in technology adoption (Futurum, 2018).

  14. Effective research communication led to better 1) Expectation management 2) Engagement with stakeholders including regulators WHAT EFEFTCIVE MANAGEMENT OF RESAERCH COMMNICATION 3) Streamlined research Implementation strategy It is already creating winners and losers, look how Pfizer is leading in number of jabs in people s arm because of early to market and effective research communication on the benefits of having a jab through empirical data MEAN?

  15. BENEFIT OF USING DIGITAL TECH The IoT provides a platform that allows Universities and Institutions access to data for monitoring trends to provides real-time update on the actual number of people known to have COVID-19 worldwide. The Opportunities offered by Big Data has been described as UNPRECEDENTED for advancing science and research communicatio

  16. Universities and Institutions can partner with WhatsApp (own by Facebook) to allow their students receive accurate information about research of public concerns quickly. BENEFIT OF USING DIGITAL TECH CONT D Executives say digital transformation s top benefits include improvement of operational efficiency (40%), faster time to market (36%, and meeting customer expectations (35%) (PTC, 2018). https://financesonline.com/digital- transformation-statistics

  17. COMMUNICATING RESEARCH FINDING USING DIGITAL TECH

  18. COMMUNICATING RESEARCH FINDING USING DIGITAL TECH The pervasive nature of digital technology in people lives especially the millennials and Gen Z is causing rapid changes in our everyday lives including how we communicate research findings. This tech savvy generation demand research outcomes on their phones, tablets, and personal computers not on pieces of paper and publication on the news stand.

  19. In communicating research our strategy should be to push published research out to the public, making sure they have the latest cutting-edge information to report on. We can use social media to get data out in an easily digestible and shareable form. High-quality research independently published across industries is of interest to the media and used by academics to increase impact factor . CONFIDENCE IN COMMUNICATING RESEARCH FINDINGS IS ONE WAY TO ASSERT THE TRUTH .

  20. GLOBAL DIGITAL POPULATION AS OF JANUARY 2021

  21. Internet-supported social media have offered lay people and experts new means to self-organise and exchange ideas, experience and footage (Bombaci et al. 2015). POTENTIALS BEYOND COMMUNICATI NG RESEARCH FIDNINGS Gaming may contribute to education and behaviour change, fundraising and research (Sandbrook et al. 2014). Technology-supported games can also encourage children and other players to go into research more. Virtual representations of research model may be employed for many different or overlapping purposes including education and well-being,

  22. THE WAY FORWARD It s estimated that companies accelerated their adoption of digital technologies for customer and supply-chain interactions by 3 to 4 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic (McKinsey, 2020). 72% of companies who were first in their industries to experiment with digital technologies during the pandemic reported having very effective responses to COVID-19 (McKinsey, 2020). 25% of organizations worldwide have adopted cloud-distributed technology on a large scale (KPMG, 2020). https://financesonline.com/digital- transformation-statistics/

  23. 1) As journals move away from print formats and embrace digital tech, it will reach a larger audience. 2) Leadership should provide opportunities for impressive alignment btw digital tech and research finding by embedding digital technology as part of the research process. WAY FORWARD CONT D 3) Only People with critical skills, who are not tired of scanning the digital tech landscape should lead. 4) Researchers need to have clarity about the pay-off using digital technology in communicating their research findings

  24. THE FUTURE OF DIGITAL TECH As Opined by Darina (2021) - 5G is expected to be a hundred times faster than the 4G standard, delivering speeds of 10 gigabits per second. Technological progress of mobile broadband networks will enhance IoT, bringing faster wireless internet to cars, refrigerators, and other innovations. Artificial intelligence and machine learning are two of the most disruptive technological forces in the world. These burgeoning technologies are going to change the world of consumers, enterprises, and governments all over the globe. Virtual Reality offers a completely immersive experience into a computer-generated world. Although it makes an interesting platform for gaming, the technology is seeping into other industries and transforming them as well.
