  3. VRES Highlights VRES Highlights We are the home of the Vikings! Our school colors are blue and yellow. Approximately, 640 students attend our school. Our day begins at 9:15 am and ends at 4 pm. Currently, we serve a diverse student population in Kindergarten through Grade 6. ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) FCPS PreK Program (Head Start) Special Education Services Advanced Academics Levels 1-3 Advanced Math

  4. We STRIVE for academic EXCELLENCE We STRIVE for academic EXCELLENCE We have a Parent Liaison who supports our families by serving as a bridge between home and school. Teachers work together in grade level teams. Teams meet in weekly Collaborative Learning Teams (CLTs) to plan instruction, analyze student data, and participate in on-going professional learning. We have a variety of Specialists who support teams and help to enrich instruction.   8. Goal of the Health Room Goal of the Health Room The goal of this partnership is to promote a safe and healthy environment in which to maximize your child s educational experience

Role Role- - Public Health Nurs Public Health Nurse Identify and address medical and health concerns of students Provide training for school staff about health issues and procedures Act as a liaison between Health Department and FCPS Resource to school staff for communicable diseases and appropriate actions to address Promote healthy lifestyles and teach health related topics Keep school community informed of Health Department resources Supervise School Health Aide

Role Role- - School Health Aide School Health Aide Paraprofessional trained by the Health Department Narrow scope of practice to include: Care for sick and injured students Facilitate medication administration Coordinate Vision and Hearing screening Tracks illness trends School Health Aide is not a nurse and can not diagnose or give advice regarding care

  11. What Parents Need to Know What Parents Need to Know Complete the Health Information Form. Update this form during the year as necessary Complete the Emergency Care Card Keep emergency contact information current and updated Parents must provide any medication that their child might need during the school year All medication must be accompanied by FCPS medication form available on the FCPS website or in the health room Students are not allowed to carry medications to school

General Information General Information If your child is sick, please keep your child at home until symptoms have been resolved for 24 hours without medication Please state symptoms your child is experiencing when you call the Attendance line Students generally can only stay 20 minutes in the Health Room, and then a decision is made to go back to class or home

Bus #, Kiss & Ride, walker, daycare, or SACC should be written on the back of the classroom tag Keep dismissal procedures consistent, all changes must be in writing or called into the office Teachers will walk students to buses and daycare vans and will ensure that they are on the correct bus. Kindergarten IAs will walk SACC students to their classroom at the end of the day, and will wait at the front of the school with Kiss & Ride and walking students for parents
