Warsan Shire is a Somali-British poet, writer, editor, and teacher. In 2013- 2014 she was the young Poet Laureate for London. She was awarded the inaugural Brunel International African Poetry Prize. She is the youngest member of the Royal Society of Literature. And is included in the Penguin Modern Poets series. She is best known for collaborating with Beyonc in 2016 on Lemonade , a visual album in which the singer s music is intercut with Shire s poetry. Home Home is a poem written by Warsan Shire in 2009. This poem explores the lived experiences of the refugees and immigrants who couldn't find any other way but to leave their original countries, which they proudly call home . Home is a poem about migration, about what happens to people when uprooted from their homes. When they find themselves unable to find acceptance in the places, they fled to looking for safety. Home describes scenes from the journeys of refugees which are full of discomfort, displacement, violence and movement that lead to the loss of physical and spiritual sense of home. Home is a poem about refugee experiences. It addresses all the migrants as you . It explores different refugee stories and threads them together. Starting with their initial flight from home to their journeys via land, sea, train and other methods of transportation to a new, safer place and ends with the refugees struggles in their new home, which may include difficulties of adaptation, nostalgia, cultures clash, language barrier, violence, bigotry, and xenophobia . In short, Shire presents Home as the place that makes one feel, speak and explore the incoherence experienced during the flight away from home.
Finally ,theses days we are witnessing the most aggressive and barbaric attack against all what the word home means in all languages of the world, where the Zionists are bombarding the Palestinians Homes and trying to uproot them from their own land and their own Homes under the silence of the most criminal regimes in the world.
