Fill in the blanks- a) Water sources are natural and artificial. b) Rain is the main source of water. c) Water found below the earth s surface is known as groundwater. d) Rain and melting glaciers fill up the water bodies. e) The Earth is called the blue planet. f) Electricity is produced by using water.

  4. Write T for true and F for false a)Water is necessary to live. (T) b)A Tubewell is a natural source of water. (F) c) We should use a hosepipe to wash cars and other vehicles to save water.(F) d) Ground water is absorbed by soil .(T) e) We should not waste water as it is precious. (T) f) Ocean and sea are artifical sources of water. (F)

  5. Define the following a) Reservoir- A natural or artificial pond or Lake used to store water behind dams . b) Rainwater harvesting- It is a method to conserve water, a tank is built for collecting and storing rainwater.

  6. Answer the following questions- Q1- Differentiate between artificial and natural sources of water- Artifical Natural 1- Water sources constructed by human beings for storing water is called artifical sources of water. 2- e.g- tanks, dams, hand pumps and well. 1- Water sources that we get from nature are called natural sources of water. 2- e.g- ponds, lakes, streams, river etc.

  7. Q2- Write any two ways in which you can conserve water at school. Ans- 1) Close the tap after use. 2) If any tap or pipe is leaking, I will inform to my teacher immediately. Q3-How do water bodies like seas, rivers, lakes and oceans get filled with water? Ans- Rain and melting glaciers fill up the water bodies like seas, rivers, lakes and oceans.
