We also invite parents into the classroom for sharing time opportunities each half term. This is an opportunity for you to share with your child the things that they have been doing in school. Keep an eye on School Comms for upcoming dates.
School Comms School Comms allows us as a school to keep parents up to date with events taking place in school. Every Friday an email is sent to all parents to remind them about anything that may be happening in school during the following week. It is therefore very important that the office have a correct and up to date email address for each parent.

The First Weeks The children will start to develop their learning, social skills and independence. They will make new friends Start to understand the school rules and expectations Settle into whole school routines such as playtime, lunchtime and sharing assembly.
Sharing Assembly ( From October half term) This takes place each Friday at 8.45.am in the school hall. Any child with a birthday from the Sunday to the Saturday will sit on the birthday chair in sharing assembly on the Friday and parents are invited to come and watch. If you are not sure if your child is due to be on the birthday chair, please check with the class teacher. Letters will be sent out at the beginning of the week if your child is going to be sharing work during assembly so that you can attend.
PE, Forest School and Woodwork The children will have weekly PE and Forest school sessions. When the colder weather arrives it is advised that tracksuit trousers or leggings are left in school. In bad weather conditions and during January and February the children will be participating in woodwork sessions instead of Forest School. Both Forest School and woodwork sessions are taught by Mrs Finch who is a qualified Level 3 Forest School Leader, with tool skills training.
Behaviour and Expectations We expect and encourage every child to follow our 3 rules: Be Kind, Listen Try your best. Children who follow these rules will be awarded with positive praise, stickers, being nominated to sit on the star chair, headteacher smiley awards and school champion certificates.
Behaviour and Expectations Classroom and school Rules During the first few weeks we will be spending time discussing our classroom and school rules with all of the children and explaining how to follow them. Children who follow these rules will be awarded with positive praise, stickers, headteacher smiley awards and school champion certificates. Children who are finding it difficult to follow these rules will be spoken to quietly about their behaviour and given a chance to change it. If this behaviour still continues then children may be given some time out within the classroom to reflect on their behaviour. If their behaviour continues to occur then then the child will be spoken to by Mrs Lagdon and further strategies to improve their behaviour will be discussed with staff and put in place. Parents will be contacted too.
Behaviour and Expectations House Points Children in Reception will be given a house to be part, Daffodils, Thistle, Rose, and Shamrock. Children can be awarded points for academic achievement, good citizenship, good effort and showing our school rules and values. Each week the name of the child in each class with the most amount of points will be displayed in their class. Points for each House will be collated weekly and the house who has achieved the most house points by the end of the term will be awarded a house Mufti Day or an extra playtime.
Zones of regulation We use the Zones of regulation behaviour approach and this is a fun, child friendly way to help the children with their self- regulation by showing the different ways they feel through the characters from Winnie the Pooh. We would love all the children to feel like little Winnie the Poohs! However, we acknowledge that some children will need support with managing their emotions and we will be working on showing them various strategies to help them.
General Please could we ask that you ensure all clothing is named. Children must have a named water bottle to bring in every day. These will be sent home to be washed and refilled. Please could we ask that no other personal belongings are brought into school, especially toys. During periods of hot weather please can you provide your child with a sun hat. Sun-screen should be applied before the children come to school as it cannot be applied during the day.
And finally.. We are very much looking forward to working with you all as your child starts their learning journey with us.
