Aim To support accommodation providers to become COVID-secure and prepare and respond to suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 amongst employees and guests. Objectives To understand what it means to become COVID-secure To disseminate and understand the current plans and guidance available to support accommodation providers prepare and respond. To understand what to do and where to seek support should you become aware of a possible case or confirmed case in your accommodation. What does it mean to be COVID Secure? 1. You have carried out a COVID Risk Assessment 2. You have documented it 3. You have shared this with your staff? They may have suggestions on how to manage the risks that you have not thought of 4. You have Implemented the measures identified 5. You have displayed a notice in your hotel stating you have followed this guidance 6. You have a process in place to review the risk assessment and amend measures if you find they are not working or the government guidance is updated 7. You have processes in place to record details of your customers for the National Test and Trace service Improving People s Lives

Your role and responsibilities Duty under the Health and Safety at Work etc Act 1974 to protection the health safety and welfare of your staff and members of the public You are responsible to ensuring that the risks identified in your COVID risk assessment are managed, and so you should ensure that social distancing measures are in place and adhered to Increased cleaning and sanitisation measures are in place Staff are provided with and wear their Personal Protective equipment Provide signage to remind staff and customers on social distancing Back of house is just as important as front of house! 1. Suspected case If your guests or employees experience any COVID-19 symptoms they must: - Stay indoors and self-isolate - Phone to inform you - Arrange a test online www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or call 119. Results take approx. 24 - 48hrs and are issued by text or email. Do I need to report suspected cases? You only need to report suspected cases to Public Health England, Health Protection Team on 0300 303 8162 if you think you have an outbreak (e.g. 2 or more suspected cases). Improving People s Lives

What should a guest do if they test positive? The guest needs to inform you that they have tested positive If they feel well enough to travel and have their own vehicle they should return home as quickly and directly as they can If they feel so unwell that they cannot travel, they should continue to isolate at the accommodation and call 111 if symptoms worsen It is important that they do not travel home on public transport Anyone needing to self-isolate who needs assistance with shopping collecting, medication or dog walking should phone 0300 7906275 (national no.) or BANES Compassionate Community Hub 0300 247 0050 The test was negative, can they stay? The guest should keep isolating until they feel well and then enjoy their visit as planned. Improving People s Lives

2. One confirmed case You may be informed of a confirmed case of COVID-19 by NHS Test & Trace, an employee, guest or your local Public Health England Health Protection Team (PHE HPT). Refer to NHS Test and Trace: workplace guidance or search the title on GOV.UK for further advice. Do I need to report one confirmed case? Please contact the Council s Public Health Team on 01225 394041 or email public_health@bathnes.gov.uk who can offer advice and support. PHE HPT 0300 303 8162 are available to offer additional advice and support if required. Improving People s Lives
3. Two or more confirmed cases You may be informed of more than one confirmed case of COVID-19 by NHS Test & Trace, an employee, guest or your local Public Health England Health Protection Team. Refer to NHS Test and Trace: workplace guidance or search the title on GOV.UK for further advice. Do I need to report two or more confirmed cases? Contact your local PHE HPT 0300 303 8162 for help and advice. Early engagement with your local PHE HPT is key to minimise any possible wider outbreak in your community. They will work with you to assess the risks and advise you what actions to take. Please also inform the Council s Public Health Team on 01225 394041 or email public_health@bathnes.gov.uk Depending on the outcome, your local PHE HPT and Council may establish an Outbreak Control Team to help support you to manage the situation. Information your local PHE HPT may request from you: Details of your organisation: name of hotel or guest accommodation and location (including postcode and Local Authority) Details of the cases: contact details of the people affected when the individual(s) became unwell when they were last present on the premises nature of the roles/job undertaken by any staff affected known links between the individual(s) with COVID-19 (in or out of the premises) key contact details: name, phone number, email number of staff and size of hotel/guest accommodation e.g. number of rooms number of people with which the individual(s) had close contact nature of the environment (for example layout and nature of the building) details of control measures has there been any contact with other agencies? for example Local Authority, Food Standards Agency (FSA), Health and Safety Executive (HSE) Improving People s Lives
