  1. Bellwork WEEK 2

  2. Monday: Building Ensemble Discuss with your table buddy (if you do not have one today, join a pair near you) what foods you like that you do not think others would like. Then discuss if there is any foods that you don t like that you think most would. Example: I dislike rice and I think most people like rice. I also love mayo and ketchup mixed together and I do not think many people like that. Write down what you learned about your partner(s).

  3. Tuesday: Video/Song Since we unfortunately do not have time in JH to delve into mime we are going to watch a video of ET the Mime. As you watch pay attention to what looks familiar about pantomime and what looks different than what you learned. Watch https://youtu.be/FPMBV3rd_hI Answer these questions: What is something that we learned about pantomime that you saw ET the Mime do? What is a question you have about the performance?

  4. Wednesday: Warm up Go ahead and stand up and follow the leader 1. Spread your feet apart and put your hands on your hips. Rotate your hips around and make a big circle (You may feel silly doing this but that is okay, own it!). Now go up on your tiptoes and stretch as far up as possible. Finally bend at your waist and try to touch your toes. Say ahhhhhh for 10 counts. Now say ahhhhhh for 10 counts but have your voice go up and down in pitch (We will call this the rollercoaster for future reference). 2. Now sit back down and write down whether you liked these warm ups or not. Don t forget to say why you liked or disliked them.

  5. Thursday: Writing Prompt Think about the different roles/production staff we learned about. Who would be in charge of each of the following situations: Example: Some of the actors are being loud backstage during a rehearsal. Answer: Stage Manager #1: One of the actors cut his hand during the show and needs a small bandage before he returns to the stage. #2: The wig bill is due. #3: An actress needs to be more emotional during a scene. #4: It is opening night and there are no paper towels in the lobby restrooms.

  6. Answers 1. Stage Manager 2. Producer 3. Director 4. House Manager

  7. Friday: Game Today we are going to play Fail Ta-Da. How to play: We are going to come up one at a time and tell the class about a time you have failed, then take a big bow while we give you a round of applause. So think about a fail that you can tell us in 5 seconds. Some of my examples (yes, they are true): I have tripped on my own pant leg, I have forgotten lines during a play, I have fallen through a window and needed stitches (everyone has fails, they can be big or small!). Once we are done, write down why you think we would play this game.
