2 Welcome Remarks: Jaime Crosen History of Elgin High School: Alan Flota EHS was established in 1869, we are one of the oldest high schools in Illinois Forty thousand plus students have graduated from Elgin High School since the first commencement in 1872. Our building was built in 1972, this being the third location of EHS Elgin High is 400,00 plus square feet located on 68 acres of land

9 Important Terms Semester One-half of the school year (18 weeks) Credit Transcript unit is earned each semester (with a passing grade (A, B, C, D). Elective A course you choose because of your personal or career interests.

14 Elective Course Choices Elective courses should be selected based on student interests or career aspirations. Refer to the Freshman Curriculum Guide &the Course Selection Resource Guide to learn more about your choices for Elective courses including a course description and a brief view from U-46 students and staff! Some electives are a full year (2 credits) and some are just one semester (1 credit). Please make sure that your son/daughter select at least four (six is better) electives that are interest and that you know the choices.

18 What can I expect? Please complete this form BEFORE meeting with your school counselor as outlined below: Ellis and Larsen : Your school counselor will visit your US History class. During that visit you will have the opportunity to meet your counselor and select your electives for the school year 2021-22.
