  1. Welcome to Kindergarten at: Walden Lake Elementary School Please go to the next slide and click on the play button in the center of the slide, to see a video walkthrough of one of our Kindergarten classrooms!

  5. Your Child's Success depends on: Behavior that promotes learning Participation in the classroom family Active listening throughout the day Responsibility (getting work done) Independence Effort Self-sufficiency in the restroom

  6. What is Expected from You: Make sure the teacher knows how your child will be going home (bus, car, walking, private provider van) and notify the office and teacher of any changes Make sure the office always has your current phone numbers, address, emergency contact, and email address. Ensure your child arrives at school on time; attendance is very important to student success! School begins at 7:40am Monday Early Release Dismissal 12:55pm Tuesday Friday Dismissal 1:55pm

Here is our friend "Ready Freddy" showing you some things your child should be able to do, to be ready for Kindergarten: Identify uppercase and lowercase letters, out of order Know letter sounds for all letters Identify their name when written Be able to spell and write their name Be able to identify numbers 0-10, out of order and count in order from numbers 1-10 or more Be able to identify basic shapes: circle, square, triangle, rectangle Practice tying their shoes Get in the habit of reading books to your children each day to foster their love of learning and reading!
