WELCOME TO YEAR 5 2023-2024
Meet the Team Class teachers: Mrs S. Storey Class support staff: Mrs S. Simpson and Miss S. Blackledge Miss Blackledge works across both classes in Year 5 and will also provide class cover. Other Year 5 staff: Mrs K. Horan and Miss A. Wright
Procedures for Contacting Staff First point of call: First point of call: F For quick messages, please use your child s planner. This is the most effective way of getting a message to us. Important messages Important messages: : I If you wish to speak confidentially to a member of staff over a concern relating to your child, please email the school office. All enquiries will be passed on to the appropriate member of staff and you will be contacted within two days to discuss the issue or arrange a meeting if necessary.
Communication School Website: School Website: The website will be updated with: events, dates, clubs, curriculum, forms and class information. Newsletter: Newsletter: Newsletters will be updated every week with information of the children s learning and important dates Text Messages: Text Messages: These are sent as reminders and to inform you of important information. Parents Evenings: Parents Evenings: These take place in the Autumn and Spring term. (Dates are posted on the online calendar. PLEASE NOTE: Extra Curricular Clubs do not run on these evenings to allow all staff to sufficiently prepare). Reports: Reports: Report at the end of Summer term.
High Expectations Behaviour Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Safe Punctuality Coming to school on time. Be a HERO! Attendance Making sure you are here every day. If not, this should be communicated with the school office. Uniform Neatness and presentation (PE kit and school uniform). PE will be on Tuesdays and Fridays.
Homework Homework is made up of the following elements: Reading: Recording in reading records (at least 3 times a week) with a signature from a parent/guardian. Spelling: Practise weekly spellings. These will be tested on Mondays - 6 new words (mastery focus), 2 words from the statutory word list and 2 review words. Maths: Times Tables Rock Stars OR Freckle. Accelerated Reader quizzes should be completed whenever your child finished a book from our school library.
