  1. White Tailed Sea Eagle Sona Donovan

  2. History White tailed sea eagles became extinct in Ireland in 1901 because farmers and hunters killed them. They were re-introduced into Kerry in Ireland in 2007.

  3. In 2012 -(the year I was born) a pair of white tailed sea eagles bred for the first time in over 100 years in Lough Derg, Tipperary. Lough Derg is the biggest lake in Ireland and is one of the lakes on the River Shannon. I go to Lough Derg every year with my family. The arrow in the map is of Lough Derg.

  4. Facts about the White Tailed Sea Eagle Biggest bird of prey in Ireland. Their wingspan is about 2 metres (around the size of a door!) They eat fish, seabirds, hare and other mammals. The biggest threat to them is poison because farmers are scared of them for stealing their lambs so they put out big steaks of poison for them to eat but then they are killed by the poison.

  5. What I saw... In August last year, I got up very early with my family in Tipperary and when we got up we saw a white tailed sea eagle walking along the field (look at the photo). He was spotted by a hare who was probably raising young of his own and then we just saw the hare charge towards the eagle and then we saw the eagle just fly away from the hare!

  6. More Eagles... Last summer, ten more white tailed sea eagles were released into the wild in Lough Derg. The young eagles were brought all the way from Norway. The circle is Norway and the arrow is Ireland. I think this next video is of one of the young eagles that was introduced last summer.

  7. Thank you. The End.
