  5. Trainer Testimonial In an in-person training environment it is easy to spot the introverts and extroverts by seeing their behavior from the moment they enter the room. I can adapt my approach to each learner so as to not put the quiet introvert on the spot or make them uncomfortable. I can also temper the extroverts instincts to jump in and dominate conversations by calling on others or using various engagement techniques that ensure I hear from all learners. In a web-based environment, it takes time to determine personality types making it more difficult to manage engagement. How do I make sure all my learners are getting the most out of the class?

  6. Trainer Testimonial In a web-based learning environment, I ask a lot of questions to ensure my learners are engaged. At first, I do not call on specific individuals and more often than not, the question gets answered. In a typical session, it becomes clear there are those that speak up often and those that do not. Calling on those who do not speak off can yield mixed results: right answers, wrong answers, a follow-up question, or the dreaded silence. My internal monologue starts, I probably worded the question poorly. Let me rephrase. The rephrased question is met with silence. Audio is working. I know they know the answers, this was a simple recall question hmmmm, maybe they are an introvert and do not want to speak aloud. I have to find other ways to make sure the learner is engaged.
