  3. Introduction There are 3 steps to securing the right job for you. We ll be looking at each of these steps in turn and finding out which job types are right for you. These steps are: Step 1: Where are you now? Step 2: Where do you want to go? Step 3: Finding the opportunity

  4. Step 1: Where are you now? We are going to look at your skills, personal qualities and interests. We will use these to help match you to a job or opportunity that is right for you.

  6. Skills Take 5 minutes to think about: What are skills? Why are skills important when looking for an opportunity?

  27. Practical factors You now have a job role you would like to apply for! Before starting your job search what else might you need to think about? If you use public transport, how much will this cost? How far are you prepared to travel to get to your new job? What mode of transport will you use to get to your new job? What adjustments might you need when in work? How much do you need to earn? How many hours can you work?

  28. Path to progression A failure to plan is a plan to fail. African proverb Most goals can be achieved with the right planning, preparation and actions. What planning and actions do you need to do to achieve the roles and opportunities you wish to pursue?
