Introduction Warm Greetings from The Board Of Directors, I would like to begin with an appreciation of the work that Alan Harmer did for our wonderful club. We very sadly lost Alan this year and we have renamed the Coroners Cup to the Alan Harmer Cup in small recognition for all the commitment, dedication and loyal service Alan provided over so may years. Thank you Alan from all of us. We also sadly lost our beloved member Jill Pendleton in October and offer our sincere condolences to Mattie O Connor and all his family at this awful time. Jill was an inspiration to us all with her beaming smile and infectious laughter, she will be deeply missed. The tennis social event in October each year will be named after Jill. I am sure both Alan and Jill would have recognised and appreciated what a fantastic season of tennis we enjoyed this year with all teams competing every week for glory. Fantastic team spirit and the team Captains did an excellent job ensuring our fixtures were completed. The 1stLadies and Men s teams along with the 1stMixed team went the whole season without defeat and this was rightly recognised at the WDLTA Presentation. Brilliant effort by everyone involved. The club tournament was a huge success in difficult circumstances and appropriate respect was shown for the passing of our Queen Elizabeth throughout the weekend. Congratulations to everyone who entered.
Introduction Cont. WTC remains on a healthy financial footing but this will be severely tested in 2023 with the energy crisis. The club continues to grow with the membership and tennis programme participants increasing. Just a gentle reminder to all members that the club is run purely on volunteers, so we ask that everyone does there little bit from just picking up a piece of litter to ensuring lights are turned off when not in use. The Directors are looking at various options for an automated gate to be installed at the entrance to provide easy Access/Egress for everyone so will keep you updated. As Stated, major concern for 2023 is the Energy Crisis and the cost of electricity. The Electricity price will go from 18.9 per Kilowatt Hour (KH) to 80.02 per KH in April once the Gov cap is removed. The club will be paying twice as much per KH Jan to March even with the Gov subsidy. This has led to price increases across the club which are detailed on the next slide. We have NOT increased membership fees with the exception of Premium. The Directors and Committee would like to extend a sincere thank you for all the support and best wishes for an healthy and happy 2023. Joseph Grimes Chair of Directors.
Introduction Cont. The Directors carefully considered options to increase revenue to meet increased energy costs and agreed the following, effective from 01 Jan 2023; Price Increases to the Gym Rental, Coaching Programme and Caf Contract Outdoor Court Floodlighting tokens to increase to 8.00 per token Members off peak indoor courts fees to increase from 8.00 to 10.00 Members peak indoor courts fees to increase from 12.00 to 16.00 Non-Members peak indoor court fees to increase from 22.00 to 25.00 Non-Members off peak indoor courts to increase from 16.00 to 20.00 Match Fees to increase to 4.00 summer league and 5.00 winter league Premium Membership (PM) up by 5.00pm As Stated, No increase is proposed for memberships with the exception of Premium.

WTCC Dr. Ian Schofield The committee has had another successful year ensuring the club keeps running for the benefit of the members. Our membership has never been higher and hopefully that reflects what a great job all the club volunteers are doing, and they all need a vote of thanks. We have continued to run very successful social events notably at easter, and Christmas as well as a successful club dinner and end of season prize giving evening. The monthly club tennis social nights continue to be popular and always sell out. Big thanks to Bez and Joe. On the Tennis front we managed to complete 98% of our fixtures, some weeks fielding over 80 members playing competitive local tennis in both the Warrington and Liverpool leagues. Once again our first teams need a special mention, for the first time in the league history our men s ladies and mixed teams went through the full season undefeated. Our men then backed this up by winning the Cheshire champion of champions event, beating the 6 other various Cheshire league winners in the process, a fantastic season no doubt.
WTCC Dr. Ian Schofield The WTCC started with a 500.00 float in April 2021 . The balance now nearly 2 years later is 28.00 with money spent on running events for members as well as gaining the following assets: Christmas tree and decorations 162 Ladder and cards 45 New signage 72 Megaphone 28 First aid kit 12 Leaving total expenditure for last 18 months as 153.00 nett.
WTCC Dr. Ian Schofield In the future the WTCC would like to expand its member ship to include 10 members to help spread the workload of volunteers. Proposed future WTCC would look like: Chair and Deputy Chair Secretary Membership Rep Social Rep Tennis Rep Ladies Rep Gents Rep Family Rep Junior Rep We would ask all members if they can spare a few hours a month to help. Without the WTCC you have no club and no events. If you would like to volunteer, please let the club directors know as soon as possible.
WTCC Dr. Ian Schofield On a personal note, I have been a club member for 12 years now and served on the committee for 10 years. I also have been the Warrington League rep for 10 years, as well as safeguarding rep and Chair for the past 2 years. Sadly, due to increased work commitments for the next 18 months, I will have to stand down as club Chair and I would like to say how privileged I feel to have served such a fantastic club with a wonderful diverse membership. I would specifically also like to mention the Club Directors and Head Coach Andrew Beswick. They have given me great support and I would like to thank them for all the time and effort they put into their roles on your behalf. Ultimately this ensures you all have an amazing environment and a great Tennis experience whilst playing our wonderful game at Widnes Tennis club. Thank you all for the support . Dr. Ian Schofield
