About William Lived and killed in Southern California Went in the military and fought in Vietnam Stable killer While in Vietnam he sexually assulted two fellow soldiers at gun point Estimated to have killed at least 21 young men
Organized or Disorganized Organized He didn t leave evidence at the scene of the crime He would transport bodies, often found on the sides of highways
Early Life Birth: January 8, 1947 Death: February 23, 1996 Child Life: -Father was a gambler, alcoholic, child molester -Mother was an alcoholic -often abused -foster care ages 6-9
Early Life (cont)/ Killings Went into juvenile detention at age 10 for stealing license plates This was the start of his criminal phase Age 21: first convicted of sexual assult First victim was of 14 year old hitch hiker, Thomas Lungdren
Stages Aura: None to be shown Trolling: William and his 4 accomplances, mainly Vernon Butts, would sit on the side of the free way and look for young boys, typically prostitutes or hitchhikers. Wooing: Since most victims were hitchhikers or prostitutes they were looking for rides/easy to lure
Stages Capture: Kidnapped, sedated with Choral Hydrate Murder: Mostly by stragulation, some by blunt force trauma. An earlier victim was stabbed 77 times Totem: Victims were usually raped Depression: No signs
Conviction Police suspected Bonin due to past criminal record Started survailence on him and caught him sexually assulting a 14 year old boy Confessed to 14 murders and stated: I couldn t stop killing. It got easier each time.
