  5. What is a sense poem? A sense poem is a form of poetry that uses our 5 senses to describe something. It could be how your senses are affected by going on a trip, being in school, playing a game, or in this case, a season. We are thinking how winter affects our 5 senses Sight What does Winter look like? Hearing What does Winter sound like? Touch What does Winter feel like? Smell What does Winter smell like? Taste What does Winter taste like?

  6. Plan your poem An excellent way to plan your Winter Sense poem is by using a mind map. You might want to go outside into a garden or balcony if you can, to think about Spring. Winter looks like . Winter sounds like . Winter Winter smells like . Winter tastes like . Winter Feels like .

  7. Try to get creative Here are some examples you could use in your poem. I can see the last leaves clinging onto their chilly branches. I can smell the cooking turkey, dancing in the oven. I can feel a cold breeze push against my face. I can hear the wind whistling and the rain knocking on my window. I can taste a single snowflake, resting on my tongue. (taste is usually the most difficult)

  8. Todays task Using your plan, write a 5 sense poem about Winter. There is a frame you can use, or you can make your own and draw creative wintery pictures.
