Woodlawn School Welcomes our Families to our Annual Back to School Night Thursday, September 22, 2022 Use this link to watch the presentation
Format for the evening: Drop-in anytime between 5:30-7:30 An optional light dinner of chicken or potato taquitos, and rice and beans from La Sirenita will be served in the cafeteria Visit the classroom, meet the teacher, see where your child spends the school day Visit the Specialists teachers (Art, Library, Music, PE) along with the Counselor, Reading Specialist, ELD Teacher, Special Education Team, Office Staff, and others who support your child during the day Sign up for a Parent-Teacher Conference. Conferences are November 21st and 22nd
There will be two in- person presentations in the auditorium 6:15 ESL Family Presentation 7:00 TAG Family Presentation Interpretation in Spanish is available
Woodlawn School is designated as a Title 1 school This Federal designation is determined annually based on the percentage of students who qualify for reduced price or free meals We receive $ and have a higher level of accountability for student scores, student academic progress monitoring and spending; we use a Continuous Improvement Plan to monitor our goals and tasks and align our spending to support the tasks We receive additional staffing and support; directly supporting students education, safety, and well-being (social emotional learning)
Woodlawns OSAS (gr. 3rd-5th) and MAP (all grades) results for Spring 2022 Preliminary OSAS numbers have Woodlawn 3rd-5th graders: near 45% Meeting/Exceeding in ELA near 40% Meeting/Exceeding in Math Schoolwide Spring MAP data, including all grades K-5th: 60% Meeting/Exceeding in ELA 58% Meeting/Exceeding in Math
Our School Continuous Improvement Plan (SCIP) includes meeting and exceeding the stated Board goals Portland Public Schools Board Goals Adopted Summer 2022: based on the Oregon State Assessment results Third Grade Reading improvements: African American Students by 5.5 percentage points per year. Pacific Islanders by 5.0 percentage points per year. Native - American Students by 6.1 percentage points per year. Latino Student by 3.9 percentage points per year. Asian Students by 2.6 percentage points per year. Fifth Grade Mathematics improvements: African American Students by 4.4 percentage points per year. Pacific Islanders by 4.1 percentage points per year. Native - American Students by 3.5 percentage points per year. Latino Student by 3.2 percentage points per year. Asian Students by 1.2 percentage points per year.
Our big 3 tasks include: Implementing a new Reading and Writing curriculum with fidelity, including the check points for assessment Using Goal Setting with every student as a means to increase student engagement and connectedness to the curriculum Prioritizing an Intervention and Acceleration period everyday to reteach, apply and extend skills
