Agenda Directory Enhancements Training/Accessibility Siteimprove Q&A
Directory After a great deal of work from several teams in ITS, the official NAU Directory has been updated! Sarah Lipsey from the Learning & Professional Development team has joined us today to give a demonstration of the new interface and talk about some of its features. Here are some resources you can visit for more information, valuable both for context on what it is capable of and how department directory maintainers can interact with it! You can download this presentation on https://in.nau.edu/web to access the links. Directory Maintainer Tool: How to update department information Directory Maintainer Tool: Degree affiliation changes ID Portal: Profile manager for faculty and staff ID Portal: Faculty opt out of FAAR Activities How to request a change to personnel or department information ITS Directory Maintainer web page
Directory Revamp The new NAU Directory: Provides visitors with profile pictures of faculty and staff Displays current and accurate information for faculty and staff, both at the individual and department level Automatically updates department members, using the NAU system of record The new Directory eliminated a large amount of manual work for Directory Maintainers. Only unique scenarios and one-off situations need to be manually maintained. Plus, Directory Maintainers can add others to share the responsibility easily.
Enhancements Alongside the Directory update, an enhancement to the catalog integration has been released A new Faculty tab showing professors associated with a given program Currently sparse, but will expand as faculty profiles are given further attention To provide insight into development efforts, we are creating a new web resource This resource will live on the in.nau.edu/web site Collects info about known bugs, planned enhancements, and release notes after theme updates Will be updated weekly with most current information on each initiative Format still being worked on, but will hopefully be ready by next UWC update
Training & Accessibility Due to continued of COVID-19 concerns, WordPress workshops will continue in virtual format The same content, training, and one-on-one support will still be made available Virtual labs will be held at published times, but do require registration For registration and more information, please review the site: https://in.nau.edu/web/training/ Accessibility has had to delay the planned training videos, but they are still on the roadmap The Siteimprove-specific videos are not being pursued due to budget constraints, but may be in the future
Siteimprove in.nau.edu has been able to get back down to 0 broken links and misspellings every week, and maintain this for over 6 months! To keep momentum, we are moving to the next phase of Siteimprove clean-up: documents and media files from the mass migration! This information will be provided in an additional weekly report for all users currently receiving the broken link and misspelling reports (which will continue to be sent) Formatting for the report and suggestions on how to best clean up the data are still underway
Thank you for the continued support and involvement to deliver a high- quality OneNAU website! Questions?
