2 WorkSource Portland Metro Summary This training provides an overview of the Connect to Work Experience (C2WE) program, including it s purposes and intentions, eligibility requirements, and referral and placement processes.
3 WorkSource Portland Metro Purpose and Intention Provide relevant training Career Related / Focused Establish current and relevant work history
4 WorkSource Portland Metro The Work Experience 240 Hours maximum (no more than 40 hrs. per week) Typically completed in 6 weeks to 4 months Minimum wage - $11.25/hr SE Works is the Employer of Record
5 WorkSource Portland Metro Preparing for the Referral Customer is registered with WorkSource WIOA Documentation completed at WorkSource Center Work-Ready elements completed iMatchSkills profile up to date Clear Career Objective Resume meets WSPM Talent Link standards (and is current in iMatch) Customer has updated Career Plan signed by WS Liaison Customer has working email and uses consistently Review Readiness Checklist
6 WorkSource Portland Metro Making the Referral WEX Allocations Referral made through I-Trac (Services Tab) Career Plan sent to Employment Specialist Career Plan must be signed by Liaison Most current resume uploaded into iMatchSkills Employment Specialist reviews documents and sets up intake with customer. Prepare customer to be ready for the intake and a mock interview within the next week to 10 days.
7 WorkSource Portland Metro The Intake Employment Specialist reviews career objectives with customer Discuss types of placement possibilities Discuss barriers such as transportation, child care, school or work conflicts, etc. Discuss expectations Career Coaches encouraged to attend
8 WorkSource Portland Metro Placement Process Career-focused Established worksites New worksites Customer preferences / needs Placement goal = 30 days Follow-up once placed
10WorkSource Portland Metro Common Questions Why was my customer not accepted to C2WE? What should I do? Why did my customer get accepted but not placed? Cancellations and Service Endings Maximum 80 days to make a placement. What happens if they go beyond 80 days? Can I re-refer my customer? Can my customer do another work experience?
11WorkSource Portland Metro Considerations This is NOT a substitute for a job What does it mean to be work-ready (beyond the Talent Link elements)? Communication expectations Career-oriented Not a last resort and not for everyone. Should be a meaningful part of the plan for long-term success. Peer Support WEX s, and other hard-to-place positions.
