HB5 Graduation Requirements Distinguished Level of Achievement Requires successful completion of: Foundation program (22 credits) An additional credit in advanced math and a possible additional credit in advanced science At least 2 elective credits specific to Endorsement Areas * Students must earn Distinguished Level of Achievement in order to be eligible for Top 10% Automatic Admission to Institutions of Higher Education RIGOR & ACCOUNTABILITY HI SD Becoming #GreatAllOver 3
HB5 Graduation Requirements Performance Acknowledgement Requires successful completion of: For outstanding performance (in one of the following) 1. In dual credit courses (12 college hrs, GPA 3.0) 2. In bilingual and bi-literacy (in two or more languages) 3. AP test score of 3+ or IB exam score of 4+ 4. On the PSAT, ACT-Plan, SAT, or ACT 5. Terms & Definitions Industry Certification perform certain basic tasks essential to a particular industry. These certifications are usually created by a particular company such as ACA (Adobe Certified Associate). An industry certification is a credential that validates the ability to ENGAGED STAKEHOLDERS License completion of a training program with a minimum number of hours and successful acquisition of basic skills essential for specific trades or professions. Examples would be a state issued Cosmetology license or a Licensed Pharmacy Technician Trainee. A license is a Texas government issued certificate which indicates Occupational Competency Assessment assessment created by groups such as the A*S*K Business Institute which indicates successful occupational competency for various industries. For example the A*S*K Business Fundamentals test that indicates basic skills in Human Resources or NCCER Welding. Teacher Preparation Professional Development Teachers should become trained (certified) in at least one credential RIGOR & ACCOUNTABILITY Industry certification with related training expands a teacher s content background in the skill set areas and job roles for which they train students. Enables them to better explain the requirements of specific jobs in related career pathways as well as to put into perspective for their students the relative market value of industry certifications as well as other credentials. Requesting Vouchers Process and Timeline Requests for vouchers and assessments should be made at least 30 days prior to the administration of the exam. If the vouchers that are not used within the 15 days, they may be recovered and made available for use by other CTE teachers.
