Worship is ascribing worth to God without expectation of rewards. (Because God is Worthy!!!)
Basically, to ascribe WORTH (worth-ship)

Worship is primarily Active not Passive
Worship is giving God the honor and praise due Him.

Therefore, I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy,
to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God
this is your spiritual act of worship.
