About WSHIMA The Washington State Health Information Management Association (WSHIMA) is a non- profit association of professionals engaged in health information management providing support to members and strengthening the industry and profession. WSHIMA is a component association of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). AHIMA is a global nonprofit association of health information (HI) professionals with more than 71,000 members and more than 100,000 credentials in the field. The AHIMA mission of empowering people to impact health drives our members and credentialed HI professionals to ensure that health information is accurate, complete, and available to patients and providers. Our leaders work at the intersection of healthcare, technology, and business and are found in data integrity and information privacy job functions worldwide.
Purpose The primary purpose of WSHIMA, as a member association, is to commit to excellence in the management of health information for the benefit of patients and providers. Mission The Mission of WSHIMA is to advance and promote Health Information Management, Health Informatics and information Governance through networking, education, shared knowledge and advocacy in the every-evolving healthcare field. Vision To promote the contribution of health information management professionals and the Washington State Health Information Management Association by ensuring the protection, integrity and quality of healthcare information.

WSHIMA Goals Develop annual or multi-year plans for providing remote and onsite education to meet the needs of members and generate income. Charge from the Board
Membership Committee Promote the interest of prospective members and maintaining the interest of existing members of WSHIMA. Develop and implement a plan for membership growth and retention. Identify needs for additional and improved member services and benefits. Track monthly membership trends via the membership dashboard. Solicit regular feedback from members on the value of member benefits. Congratulate members who pass certification exams.
