Project Goals Create five, thirty-second video advertisements to be aired at the Regal Cinema complex in Christiansburg, VA. Develop cross-functional multimedia to be strategically used online (social media, YouTube, website) and in person (group presentations and one-on-one meetings). Shift the community perception of the Y from a place for exercise towards volunteerism and community service. Strengthen the YMCA at Virginia Tech s community outreach programs while enhancing the YMCA s presence in the community.
Video Creation Process 1. Met with key Y staff members. 2. Determined video themes. 3. Scheduled and filmed interviews. 4. Filmed many programs and events. 5. Logged all footage collected. 6. Selected background music. 7. Created video graphics. 8. Edited interviews to thirty seconds. 9. Selected interesting cutaway clips. 10.Rendered videos in correct formats.

Problems Faced Time Constraints Scheduling Photo Releases Lighting Communication
Lessons Learned Have a clear idea of footage to be used. Shoot footage that conveys the appropriate message without audio. When working with a tight schedule, read scripts instead of relying on natural responses. Get feedback as early as possible.
Presentations Expand on the promotional videos and provide a more informative representation of the Y@VT. Focus on the five key themes we identified. These presentations allow the themes of the Y to be presented in a more formal manner during community events
